I could not be happier to be writing this post right now! I’m perched on the ledge outside my apartment building, soaking in the sun and blogging at once. I can’t believe I can tap into our wireless network out here!

I wanted report back about the at-home massages we received yesterday from Mass Mobile Massage. As I mentioned before, I purchased two hour-long massages from Groupon a few weeks ago. They were heavily discounted, from the original price of $140 I only paid $55 for each. What a dealsteal! That’s less than $1 a minute (excluding tip)!

When I booked our back-to-back appointments, we got a brief confirmation email with details of what to expect. They gave us the dimensions of the table so we could make adequate space.  I had to dismantle my living room, but we managed to make it work.

Our massage therapist Andy called about 20 minutes before the appointment to ask about parking in the neighborhood. Fortunately, we were able to accomodate him. He lugged his gear up to our apartment and got set up.

He brought along lots of props: a heat pad, support pillows, and music. We weren’t sure if he’d supply music, so earlier in the day Justin discovered an awesome “deep relaxing massage” Pandora Station. We decided to leave that playing and the MT actually really enjoyed it.

Guess who went first? Nope, not the birthday boy. I don’t know how I swindled myself onto the table first, but yay.

It… was… awesome. He dug his elbows in so hard, and I could have cried with joy. The MT also said that I had a lot of tension in my trapezius. (Not news to me.) I wonder how bad it must be for someone who has felt hundreds of shoulders to mention it. He suggested some exercises I can do to relax them, and they really do work. Justin thoroughly enjoyed his massage right after mine. Jelly was stuck in the bedroom the whole time, and he was a poor sport.

Having it done in the comfort of your own home is so relaxing! We both recommend their services! Mass Mobile Massage seems to have coupon deals active all the time, so be on the lookout if you are within an 1 hour radius of Boston!

Don’t worry, I didn’t nose into all the presents Justin got for his birthday. He had a few to unwrap, including an arm band for his iPhone, a professional hair clipper (so we can save money, and I can reek havoc on his scalp), and an enormous back-up power supply for his new super computer. (Details on that to come later this weekend!)

All in all, Justin had an awesome birthday! Maybe turning 25 isn’t so bad after all. I’ll find out in just a few weeks!

One Response to At-Home Massages

I have tried exercise, chiropractors, acupuncture, a million NSAIDs, and muscle relaxants. Nothing helps except for massage and very hot baths, sometimes with Tiger Balm (http://tigerbalm.50webs.com/English/index.htm) applied to the lumbar region and afterwards bed rest. It helps to ease up my muscles and for getting through the pain/minor injuries that sometimes happen.
