Everyone loves a good bakery. An exceptional bakery is something to be worshiped. Currently, I’m worshiping the delicious confections of Japonaise Bakery in Brookline.

At their Beacon Street location, you can find the most beautifully crafted cakes and pastries. This place is heaven to me! They also serve their own freshly baked bread, and offer a lunch menu of sandwiches, plus teas and coffee. Shown below is a selection of their to-go items, sandwiches made on light brioche rolls.

Quality is key for Japonaise Bakery, and the owners are extremely proud of their products. It is of such great quality, that they will be featured on Food Network in the coming months!

I recently had the pleasure of spending a day in the back of the bakery. I was very curious to see how I would hold up in a professional environment, if I could really bake as well as I thought. Turns out, not really. It is hard work and unbelievably detail-oriented. My fat hands are too unwieldy.

I much prefer eating fine pastry to crafting it.

Especially the bun shown below. Oh my! I would go to the bakery every week for this item alone. A soft flaky bun, filled with curry. It is everything you could ever want, and more.

I was sent home from my day at the bakery toting a loaf of brioche bread, sandwiches, and more. Totally, and completely worth my time.

Justin and I enjoyed some of the sandwiches for dinner, punctuated with a plate of cucumbers and grapes. I needed something to contrast the carbohydrates.

And of course, there was dessert. We shared a croissant filled with Ichigo cream and strawberries. I have another one stashed away for tonight’s dessert, too.

Maybe I’m not cut out to work in the world of pastry, but I’m more than qualified to eat it.
