Just Peachy
Fresh North Carolina peaches baked into a soft pound cake, topped with candied basil. Sounds like a showstopper, right?
This dessert was every bit as good as it sounded. I would like to thank Shelby from Eat, Drink, and Run for sending this pound cake my way as part of the Great Blog Sweet Swap. In return, she got a double batch of Barney butter cookies! (Barney butter = liquid gold)
Shelby sweetly wrapped my pound cake in a kitchen towel and included a note with her baked goods.
You read more about the preparation and see the Peach Pound Cake fresh out of the oven here on her blog.
I was wary after being away for the weekend that my baked goods would perish in the apartment foyer. But, Shelby chose a sturdy recipe and it held up just fine.
I had two pieces straight away! I couldn’t resist the sweet peach flavor and soft cake. Justin was also a fan. I stashed half the loaf in the freezer for a rainy day, to spare myself from eating this in its entirety in one day.
It was so special to receive a surprise in the mail, and being able to eat it! I love that she thought to put something local in her recipe, too. I’ve never had peach pound cake before, but the bar is set very high for future loaves.
Have you ever been in a bake swap? What would you send as your favorite baked good?

I LOVE the idea of a bakeswap! I think I’d send Oreo-Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies!
I totally did the stuffed cookies last time! They really are winners… lol
I’m so glad you had fun participating! Can’t wait until the fall bake swap!
Pumpkins and apples and crumbles, oh my! Can’t wait!
I don’t think I even understand what that kind of cookie is, but I don’t care. SEND IT OVER HERE
