Foodies: check this out! My sister made a large deck of food cards. She designed a card for practically every food item, basic and obscure. It is so fun to flip through them and brainstorm dish ideas.

She is still creating prototypes, but hopes to have food card sets for sale this holiday season! Imagine the possibilities: stumped for dinner? Pull out cards for all the ingredients you have on hand and visualize a meal. Play UpWords with friends, dreaming up fruity cocktails or imaginative stews.

My sister did NOT skip an ingredient. Here are some of the cards I don’t believe are real.

Yellow Indian Woman Bean? C’mon!

What do you think of her card concept? Can any foodies out there see themselves playing with food cards at home?

Here’s what I’ve been eating lately: decadence.

I had some girl friends over last night for shish kabobs + champagne. (Those two totally go together.) One of my friends brought fancy desserts from Whole Foods.

Chocolate mousse cake and vanilla bean cheesecake. Best part of hosting a dinner party: keeping all the leftovers.

I’ve gone out to eat probably 5 out of the past 7 days. No leftovers.

Before sending my sister off on her Iconathon tour, we had dinner at Charlie’s Kitchen in Cambridge: home of the double cheeseburger.

Justin had the mushroom burger, my sister ordered a bison burger, and I had a bowl of clam chowder.

After all those dinners out, I’m happy to peel some veggies and pull together a simple stirfry at home.

What is the most decadent thing you’ve eaten lately?

    Hi Halley,

Have I ever mentioned that I love your blog Home Page pic? I really do!

Anyways, I honestly love your sister’s idea and think that sounds really original and fun. I can picture it being sold at cute little shops and boutiques. Keep us updated with her progress!

I am so glad you like the food cards! She went all out with them, even made cards for spices and cooking terms. She’s trying to figure out how to package them and if they should have a sturdier coating.

  2. Love the food cards! Yes, I could totally see myself playing with them!
