I can’t believe I haven’t updated the blog since last year! My favorite “joke”(that isn’t funny) on New Year’s Day is saying that I have/haven’t done things “since last year,” which was really only 12 hours ago.

I haven’t brushed my teeth since last year.

Jelly hasn’t had anything to eat since last year.

I haven’t showered since last year.

It might be funny to me only.

Something to interest the masses: my bacon-wrapped goat cheese stuffed dates. I made them as an appetizer to bring to a NYE party at our friend’s apartment.

This is now the 3rd time I’ve made this recipe so I’m getting pretty good at it. I even picked out frilly, shiny toothpicks at Party Favors in Brookline. They were the perfect touch for a New Year’s celebration.

Oh, but there was so much food at the party.

Our hosts Juliana and Dave did fabulous job keeping the plates full of food and there was home-brewed beer, champagne, and a bottle of Privateer‘s new batch of amber rum. Needless to say, we indulged.

Some of the appetizers: spanakopita, egg rolls, veggies, chips, dips, cheddar, brie, black bean dip, buffalo wings, baked brie with onion garlic jam, fried zucchini, and of course, my bacon-wrapped dates.

I feel like we a slowly graduating to more mature house parties. We enjoy brie and horseradish mustard, but the boys still play beer pong in the background.

I ate a little bit of everything, and a lot of cheese.

Soon enough, midnight rolled along. They had all the necessary noisemakers, hats, and champagne flutes so everyone could be as obnoxious as possible. That’s the point, right?

See?

Happy New Years!

By the way, this morning I announced the winner of the OXO egg beater giveaway on Twitter!

Congratulations to Jenne of MooshuJenne for winning, I hope you enjoy the product as much as I do. Thanks to all who entered!

Fun NYE party! I am also one of those awesomely annoying people who do the “I haven’t washed my hair yet this year” thing. We rock…obviously!
